Housemate Tuesdays: Aaron Dudfield

WHO ARE YOU?

Aaron, which is pronounced ‘Air-on’, but without the gap. Like keep your hair on, without the h or exactly like I pronounce it when I introduce myself before you respond ‘nice to meet you Arron’.

WHAT IS YOUR ART?

Defender of anything that isn’t what other people think. Playing guitar to a level that makes it seem like I can play guitar. Finding God in small moments. Growing a beard. Making epic electronic music in secret and not releasing it to the world until it’s so perfect that death doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen when you listen to it.

WHAT’S COMING UP FOR YOU?

I’m just on the way to buy some roasted peanuts, after I’ve done that I’ll probably carry on writing music. It’s actually a really long process. Previously I was just making crappy tunes which were pretty easy because I couldn’t be bothered to sit for hours and work at it. Now that I’ve actually got stuck in, I realise that it’s really hard. Arrangement and production require a lot of patience and care. Both of which are things I don’t have at all. If anybody has any I can get very quickly, I will walk all over you for them. Cheers. I will be putting some new material out over the next few weeks which will be very different to my usual melodramatic, soppy-flop bullshit.

So if you’re interested to listen, feel free to keep up with my Instagram at airs024 . Details will be given on there of pretty much everything I’m doing from now on.

If you don’t have instagram you can get me on twitter at @AaronDudfield

and if you don’t have either of those, I respect you a lot.

WHO ARE YOU?

Cynthia Rodríguez.

WHAT IS YOUR ART?

Spoken word, writing, chanting, shouting, singing, making noise, faffing around with pedals and sometimes with instruments.

WHAT’S COMING UP FOR YOU?

Currently recording an album with my band Anatomy. We’re also getting ready for our anniversary gig on the 31st of March at The Cookie.

Co-organising events with INTRSKTR, Leicester’s Intersectional Feminist Community. We’re taking over Attenborough Centre for Handmade Festival on the 5th of May. We also have a few more surprises hidden in our pockets, including the second edition of Glitterfest later this year.

Also trying to keep writing and performing solo every now and then. I’m usually at Find the Right Words at The Western. It’s a lovely night. Might bring back INTRSKTR open mic nights too and give more workshops to inspire people who otherwise wouldn’t feel safe to write and share their art.

Who are you?

Joey Mottershead, 23 years on the planet so far, Island creature, congregates around the middle.

What is your art?

Making movements to heal the body/mind. Assembling words to calm the soul. Digital work is also fun. Soon I plan to make music (when I’m good and ready).

What’s coming up for you?

I am making a show called ‘Dirty Rebirth’ with dance artist Scarlett Turner of Fuelled Dance Theatre. We are exploring what it means to live with a personality disorder; attempting to find a melody in the tune of selfcare. It will premier at the Attenborough Arts Centre in June; please come and feel with us.

I am trying to figure out how to express trauma in as many ways as possible, I think this is one.

I made a film once to do the same thing, you can see it below.

I am also trying to create a new poem every day until I stop. The evidence of this can be found on Instagram (if you’re the type to want words all the time check it out).

Who are you?

Carise Zangerle Murray is a half Argentinian half English one. Queer and creative.

What is your art?

Visual artist including painting and illustrations. Musically it’s all about the rhythm with the melody. Hang drum perfectly satisfies this for me. I love to explore digital, mixed sounds.

What’s coming up for you?

I have just created a Mind Mural for Destress Fest at the Attenborough Arts Centre. Go and see it for yourself along with all the other wonderful stress-relieving exhibits!

I am also a Project Artist for Emerge as Mythm; working with school children to create a festival inspired by Shakespeare.

What’s your art?

Photography and Video. Stills are my real passion though – I like to experiment with lots of different styles and types of photography.

What’s coming up for you?

I’ve been quite pre-occupied lately with my job but really eager to get back to shooting. I’ve been taking a lot of inspiration from documentary photographers lately so want to try that out – find some excuses to go out shooting again. Of course I’m looking forwards to the next House of Verse which I’ll be taking pics at – it’s a great event that’s always a challenge to try to capture.
